Information on Ordering Information

Side-stitched binding as an individual exclusive brochure

Side-stitched binding is a relatively traditional and very firm binding method. When selecting papers, bulky paper can also be used. Side-stitched binding is an elegant alternative to standard saddle-stitching.

For most brochures with up to approx. 80 inside pages, many people choose the common saddle-stitching method. For a highly unique appearance, we recommend our exclusive side-stitched binding - allowing you to stand out from standard bindings.

We offer side-stitched binding up to the DIN A4 portrait format. It can be refined with various high-quality materials as well as additional options. For any special requests, we look forward to hearing from you.

Side-Stitched Binding: A Classic Technique in Bookbinding

Side-stitched binding is a proven method in bookbinding characterized by its simplicity and efficiency. It is frequently used for brochures and magazines because it holds the pages securely together.

In side-stitching, staples or stitches are driven through the side of the booklet near the spine, binding the pages firmly. This process is particularly suitable for publications with a lower page count.

It should be noted that the quality of the final product crucially depends on the precision of folding and binding. Therefore, careful preparation and execution are required. Side-stitched binding thus combines tradition and practicality in bookbinding.

Advantages of Side-Stitched Binding

Side-stitched binding offers numerous advantages.

  • Firstly, it is cost-effective and excellently suited for smaller print runs.
  • Secondly, it enables quick and simple production.
  • Thirdly, side-stitched binding is highly durable, making it ideal for documents that are frequently flipped through.
  • Fourthly, side-stitching creates a professional and clean appearance suitable for a wide variety of applications.
  • Fifthly, it allows printing on both sides of the paper, meaning more information can be accommodated on less paper.

Finally, it is flexible regarding the format, meaning it can be adapted to various sizes and layouts.

Applications of Side-Stitched Binding

Side-stitched binding is a common method for binding print products. It is used in various areas, from brochures and magazines to catalogues and school notebooks.

The method is valued for its cost and time efficiency. It provides a clean and professional presentation that conveys information clearly and comprehensibly. It is particularly suitable for materials that are frequently handled, as it provides a flat surface for easy reading.

Side-stitched binding also allows for rapid production in large quantities, making it ideal for commercial printing requirements. Despite its versatility, however, side-stitching also has limitations and is not suitable for extremely thick or premium materials.

Materials and Tools for Side-Stitched Binding

Side-stitched binding is a common method for binding printed matter. For this process, you require special materials and tools to achieve optimal results.

Basic materials include the paper to be bound and the staples or wires. When choosing the paper, you must consider its thickness and quality. The staples should be made of robust metal and be the correct size for your project.

Regarding tools, a side-stitcher/heavy-duty stapler and a staple remover are indispensable. A side-stitcher is the main tool for this type of binding. A staple remover can be useful in case you make mistakes and need to remove staples.

Selecting the right materials and tools is crucial for the quality of the side-stitched binding.
