FAQ | frequently asked questions about our service
How do I place an order? What are the delivery times? Hardcover or softcover? We answer frequently asked and other questions about our services and products here.
Because you can save a long trip and a lot of time. You can easily order your own books from home or on the go. To do so, simply select your individually adjusted production requirements on our website using our online price calculator (DE) and then upload your files for printing. With just a few clicks, you have done your part and will receive your books after a few days, depending on the option selected. If you are very short on time, we of course also offer our express service as an additional option. If you pick up your books in person, we can even produce them for you within a few hours (additional options are associated with extra costs).
Because, in addition to personal support for our customers and our professional and affordable service, we also cater to your individual wishes. We are not an online print shop, but we offer our high-quality print products online nationwide. Our motivated and experienced team is happy to advise you. With us, you receive many desired services from a single source. For special production requests, we can rely on our long-standing and competent cooperation partners, which makes us flexible in manufacturing.
We produce both types of binding professionally and to a high standard.
Our hardcover books are generally handcrafted for small quantities. We always use mull, as well as endpapers (front and back). Hardcovers have a rigid cover and are more durable. With individual cover printing, the cover is always coated with a protective film (matte, glossy, or with a linen texture).
For softcover books, we use a cover card stock with a basis weight of at least 300 gsm. The cover is always creased 4 times. The content (book block) of our softcover and hardcover books is always milled first so that the glue adheres better, and is additionally provided with active side gluing. This allows us to meet a high quality standard.
In terms of production, hardcovers are more expensive than softcovers. Regardless of your preference for hardcover or softcover, it also depends on the requirements. A children's book, for example, is usually produced as a hardcover.
We not only print and bind large quantities of books or magazines but also small quantities. Whether it is single books for private individuals or large editions for sale, we try to fulfill all types of requests. We produce for you from as little as one copy!
Our online price calculator (DE) offers you the possibility to select the desired specifications for your print product. It immediately and transparently determines the exact price for you. If you are satisfied with the price for the requested services, you can then enter your order details and order your books online. You will first receive an automated receipt confirmation of your order by email, and after we have checked your order during our business hours, a concrete order confirmation.
No. You can visit us on-site at any time during our business hours (Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–5:30 PM) and take advantage of our no-obligation and free personal consultation. Simply contact us immediately by email or phone. We can then manually adjust your order for you again. Please understand that this depends on the production progress of your print product. As a rule, we only begin production once we have already sent you a concrete order confirmation by email.

For individual cover designs, we ask you to create a separate PDF file just for the cover (or binding). Depending on the binding you have selected, there are specific points to consider.
For hardcovers with fabric bindings, we only need the details regarding the embossing text from you. Extensive instructions for setting up the cover file can be found under "Creating print data".
We are not an online print shop nor a copy shop, but we offer our product variety online nationwide to the EU and Switzerland. With us, customers cannot print on printing machines themselves and cannot make copies (as in a copy shop). We generally print on high-quality modern digital production machines and do not have simple copiers. With our online service, we are available for you around the clock. While a copy shop is characterized by the hustle and bustle of its retail store, where quality sometimes suffers, our professional experts can concentrate fully on your personal order. You are also welcome to come to us in person. You can see our products for yourself on-site or get individual advice.
A quantity discount is integrated into our price calculator. The price scaling takes effect depending on how many copies you order. You save money starting from the second book! The unit price of the books decreases as the total number of books ordered increases. In addition, we regularly offer special discounts, for example at Easter or Christmas.
We produce our books and magazines up to DIN A3 format (portrait or landscape). Our individually crafted hardcover books are made in small editions using traditional craftsmanship by our trained bookbinders. This makes us more flexible, faster, and more independent because we can individually manufacture almost any format up to DIN A3. For this reason, we also refrain from using pre-fabricated quick-binding systems with format restrictions.
When choosing paper, it is important to focus on the reader of the book. The feel, natural look, and reading comfort are decisive. You have various options.
For pure text content, we recommend uncoated and rough paper types; for books with many images, rather coated and smooth paper types. For special applications, heavier papers with a higher basis weight can also be selected. We are happy to send you our paper samples free of charge. You can request these via our contact form.
As a rule, common word processing programs like MS Word or Open Office are completely sufficient. If you want to enhance your book with a special design, you should use a layout program like Adobe InDesign to make your work easier. Then, save the finished work in PDF/X4 format. This way, nothing can change in terms of content or layout when transferring the data. In any case, we check your data for free before production for possible print-technical inconsistencies (bleed, format, color, and image resolution) and will notify you.
